Tour in Villa de Leyva

The beauty of this town makes it an exceptional place: its architecture, the kindness of the people, the nice weather and the sighting diversity make this place impossible to forget.

In this Tour in Villa de Leyva we will find all kinds of restaurants, but we will focus on the local gastronomy, that offers a wide menu full of typical ingredients.

The number of attractions in this little town is uncountable: from shopping around the handcraft markets to drink a glass of wine in one of the wineries near the town. Villa de Leyva won’t stop surprising us. My partner and I did an overnight trip to Villa de Leyva from Bogotá stopping in Zipaquirá at the Salt Cathedral, and in Raquira for lunch along the way. The sights were interesting and Villa de Leyva is well worth the trip if you haven’t experienced a well-preserved colonial town before. All prior communications via e-mail with Hansa’s agent, Evelyn, were prompt, efficient and clear. We chose this company because of its professionalism and attention to detail. The greatest value of this tour, however, was due to the guides: Luis and Mary. In addition to the obvious requirements of punctuality, knowledge, and safety; those two have something extra. They have a charm, humour and openness, which made our long drives to and from the country an absolute pleasure. I recommend this company to anyone who wants a deeper experience and understanding of Colombian life.

I decided last minute to go to Bogota for 4.5 days and I arranged for all the tours and transfers with Hansa. Firstly, corresponding with Evelyn for me to pick which tours that I was more interested in were handled very professionally, despite the short notice. I even contemplated on doing a day trip to Cartagena, but later decided not to as it might be too tight for time. The four days touring around Bogota, Villa de Leyva and Zipaquira with Juan David were amazing and very insightful. Being a History major, Juan provided lots of interesting commentary for one to understand the local history and culture. When I mentioned that my friends back home highly recommended a meal at Andres Carne, he re-structured the itinerary so that we had the chance to go there on the way back to Bogota. I am glad that I extended for another half day of tours to go to the Church of Santa Clara, as it is simply stunning! Juan David was very professional and was flexible to accommodate any changes. He speaks excellent English and I felt extremely safe traveling with him. Highly recommended!

I loved the tour of Villa De Leyva. I was introduced to so much of the Colombian culture by my tour guide! I loved the quaint village, and the monastery was a real insight into the history of Catholic church here. The fossil museum was very instructive, and the entire experience was a refreshing change from the bustle of Bogota. Bogota has some wonderful museums, but this tour lets you see the countryside. Although I was scheduled for three days with Hansa tours, I did schedule a day with Viatour. I regretted this after the Viatour tour guide refused to show up! However, the Hansa tour guides were always prompt and attentive to any needs.

It was a fantastic day trip thanks to the kind hospitablity and great professionalism of Hansa Tours, The tour guide, Leonardo is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Leonardo drove me through the beautiful mountain Colombian landscape to the historic, cultural and religious valley town of Villa Le Leyva and then back to Bogota. Overall it’s been a highly enjoyable, enlightening and entertaining tour of 12 hours!

This week we took two tours with Hansa. On Monday we had the 14 hour tour to Villa de Leyva and surrounding attractions and on Tues we took the 5 hour tour to the Salt Cathedral. Juan David was our guide on Monday and Daniel was our guide on Tuesday. Both men shared their bounty of knowledge about Colombia and what it is like to live here. Juan David is humorous and has a great understanding of Colombian history and Daniel is very experienced and has a passion for travel and travelers. They both paid attention to us, talked out points of interest throughout the tours and brought us to great places to eat and see Colombia-off the beaten track. In addition, Angie, the marketing manager answered our emails promptly, even though it was a holiday weekend. We are very happy we chose Hansa – thanks to Tripadvisor reviewers as these reviews are truly on point.

I cannot recommend more highly Byron from Hunset tours if you are looking for a personal tour guide in Columbia. Of course his English is perfect and his demeanor calm and enduring.
Even in the face of road closures and accidents Byron managed to complete the entire tour and made us feel entirely safe and secure in knowing that he had our best interest at heart.
His choice of restaurant in Villa de Letva was spot on.

I booked four tours with Hansa during my recent trip to Colombia – Bogota city tour, exotic fruit/market tour, Salt Cathedral and Laguna Guatavita as well as Villa De Leyva. I reached out to their Marketing Manager Angie on Trip Advisor. Her quote was not the lowest and she was the most buttoned down amongst dozens of tour companies I contacted. Her quick responses to my inquiries and flexibility to tweak the itinerary based on my needs made me decide to go with them. I definitely made the right decision! Once I got to Bogota, my tour Byron Leon picked me up with a driver from the airport and since then, we spent 3 days together and became fast friends. Byron was hands down the best tour guide that I have ever had. He was polite, informative, punctual, attentive and caring. I learned so much from him not only about the sights but also about the way of life in Colombia which is exactly what I wanted to know. He is a safe, sane driver and a knowledgeable guide who always puts customer’s interest first. The 3 days we spent together was such a delight that they flew by quickly without me realizing it. I highly recommend Hansa Tours to anyone who wants to see and experience the real Colombia. Ask for Byron Leon to be your guide and you won’t be disappointed!

I highly recommend doing a two day trip to Villa de Leyva from Bogota with Hansa tours. Breathtaking scenery along the way, a stop in colorful Raquira, and tons of stuff to do / places to visit around the small village, that is Villa de Leyva. The company is so flexible, “designing” the trip to your enquiries, I would ask for John Alexander, such a great guide!

My friend and I used Hansa service for our different tours in Bogota, Salt Cathedral and Villa de Leyva. I contacted Nora and she arranged all our tours. She is thorough and knows her business. Our tour guide was Daniel, He is mature, professional and knowledgeable and prompt. We spent 4 days with him and enjoyed his company and his vast knowledge of Bogota and vicinity. Daniel took us to the authentic restaurants and the food was very delicious specially in the restaurant at Villa de Leyva. I am very satisfied with Hansa company. I wish in the future they can afford to use more luxury car for their clients.

I had one day to see the sights outside of Bogota, and my tour guide Alejandro and our driver Edwin did a terrific job showing me a wide variety of places on an epic 13 hour tour. Highlights were definitely Villa de Leyvar and the Salt Cathedral. Alejandro was a terrific guide and made it feel like I was out exploring with a friend – which was especially great as a solo tourist. Would love to come back and enjoy some of the other tours Hansa has to offer! Highly recommended!

My sister, a friend of many years and I just returned from a great trip organized by Hansa Tours. I had not been able to locate a tour agency that would meet our desired mode of travel and desired destinations but through Trip Advisor I read many glowing reviews of day trips in Bogota and surrounding area. I contacted Erik Boeglke and he organized a great itinerary visiting several areas of Colombia (Bogota, Villa de Leyva, coffee growing area, Cali and Cartagena). We had a charming guide/ driver for most of the trip, Byron León, who attended to the 3 of us ladies with close attention to our age and abilities. The Colombia I had lived in 1980-87 has greatly changed. Safe, good roads, clean beautiful landscape, history and the warmth of the Colombian people made our visit memorable.

I had two awesome days with Hansa Tours and their guide and driver: Marcello and Paul. Both were very flexible and friendly. During a trip to the charming Villa de Leyva, they were even willing to stay overnight if I had wished to do so! Overall they made my day trips very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
