City tour of Medellín including guide and private transportation
- Duration: 4 and 8 hours
- Difficulty: Low
- Suggested departure time: 8:00 a.m.
If you have the opportunity to visit Medellín, make the most of it with a city tour designed to showcase its most iconic landmarks. This city stands out not only for its pleasant climate, but also for its cultural richness, renowned gastronomy, and the warmth of its people.
During the tour, you'll have the chance to visit unique places, stroll through traditional neighborhoods, and hear the stories that have transformed Medellín into one of the most innovative cities in Latin America.
On the 4-hour walking tour, you'll explore the La Alpujarra Administrative Center, where the Antioquia Government and Medellín City Hall buildings surround a beautiful plaza featuring the Monument to the Race by sculptor Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt.
You'll walk through the Plaza of Lights, adorned with over 2,100 reflectors that create a striking visual effect, especially at night. You'll visit Barefoot Park, built in 2000, where you can walk barefoot and reconnect with nature right in the heart of the city.
You'll see the Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) building, an architectural icon located next to the Medellín River. Then, you'll head to Botero Plaza, an open-air museum in downtown Medellín, in front of the Museum of Antioquia and next to the Rafael Uribe Uribe Palace of Culture. It features 23 monumental bronze sculptures donated by master Fernando Botero.
The walking tour ends at the Palacio Nacional Shopping Center, declared a Historical and Artistic Heritage of Colombia. This space blends history with contemporary commerce, offering the best traditional handicrafts from the Antioquia region.
On the 4-hour tour with private transportation, you'll visit Pueblito Paisa, located on Nutibara Hill, a charming replica of a traditional Antioquian town. Here, we'll stop to enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of Medellín. You can also browse craft shops where you'll find the famous carriel jericoano (traditional leather satchel).
Next, we'll head to the iconic Botero Plaza and end the tour with a ride on the Metrocable, the world's first cable car system designed for mass public transportation with a social impact.
On the 8-hour city tour, you'll also explore Comuna 13, recognized as Medellín's greatest symbol of social transformation. Here, you'll find attractions such as colorful street art murals and the Casa de la Memoria Museum. You'll also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Barefoot Park, Lleras Park, and the El Poblado district, among other sites that give you a complete view of this magnificent city and its people.
We'll make a lunch stop where you can savor traditional dishes and desserts such as bandeja paisa, mondongo, pionono, or mazamorra. The 8-hour tour concludes with a visit to the Museum of Antioquia, home to one of the largest collections by Fernando Botero, including paintings, sculptures, and drawings donated by the artist.

By the end of the week, I felt I'd made a new friend and was leaving a city I had fallen in love with. If and when we get to go back, I'll be asking Daniel to take us to more sites and share more of his favorite places with us. I can't adequately express how much his time and dedication to our trip meant to me. Absolutely wonderful tour guide.
