It all started in 2008, when the project opened its doors to the public through the initiative of a group of biologists focused on improving the living conditions of wild animals affected by illegal trafficking. In this way, the Bioparque was designed as a wildlife sanctuary and not as a zoo in the traditional sense of the word, as it also seeks to raise awareness among visitors about the importance of ensuring the natural state of wild animals in Colombia.
One of the highlights of the place is the mountain coati (or ghost of the Andes), a species that was believed to be extinct in the country's Andean forests due to the lack of recent sightings. One specimen was successfully rescued from traffickers in 2009 and transferred to the bioparque: Now it is part of a sensational educational exhibition along with its offspring!
Professional biologists, accompanied by our expert guides, will answer all your questions while you hike through recreations of six Colombian ecosystems. You can also learn about the harmful effects of illegal wildlife trafficking, discover the natural recovery project of the neighboring Cerro de Majuy, and enjoy exhibitions such as the mountain coati or the birds of prey.

Cancellation and payment
- You can reserve your spot by paying from 15% of the total value of the booking.
- The remaining balance can be paid to the local guide in cash (COP or USD) or by credit card before starting the tour.
- You must present a copy of your passport to be exempt from the VAT tax.
- The tour can be canceled at least 48 hours before the group's pick-up time. If not notified in advance, 30% of the total value of the service will be charged.
